Chromebook Insurance

  • Insurance is not required, but without it, families are responsible for paying the full cost of any repairs or replacement out of pocket. Please see the fee schedule below.
  • Insurance may be purchased at any time during the school year; however, the District will not submit a claim for damages that occurred before the date insurance was purchased.
  • The District expects the cooperation of students and their families in order to properly file an insurance claim. Claims may be denied due to lack of information or clarity of how the accidental damage occurred. The District will then assess the appropriate fees for out-of-pocket repairs (Policy #2292 JICMM).

Families can purchase Chromebook insurance directly with Securranty. Click on the link here. You can pay by credit card, PayPal, or online check. You will need your student’s first and last name, as well as the school inventory number of the Chromebook. This number can be found on the bottom of the Chromebook by locating the “Property of Milford School District” sticker. The number typically starts with a “B” or an “M”. Do not purchase insurance for any “loaner” Chromebooks. Incoming 6th and 9th graders will be issued new Chromebooks within the first couple days of school. Insurance may be purchased after the Chromebooks have been issued to those students.

Please note that the School Board has updated several policies related to Chromebooks. As part of our continued commitment to partnering with parents, the District will be making a more proactive effort to notify parents when a student reports damage to their Chromebook—whether or not the device is insured. This is intended to keep parents informed and encourage conversations with their student(s) about the reported damage.
