Holiday Cards for Our Military Challenge

Many service members are away from their families during the holidays. Your card will help them feel remembered, appreciated, and connected. A kind message or cheerful drawing can brighten their day and remind them that people back home are thankful for their service. This activity will be done in advisories. Due November 10th or sooner to the Main Office.

Thank You for Writing a Card

How to Create Your Card

  • Use the 8 ½ x 11 inch construction paper folded in half.

  • Front cover: Draw a festive picture (holiday trees, snowflakes, lights, candles, stars, winter scenes, etc.). Keep it bright and cheerful.

  • Inside: Address the card to “Dear Warrior”. Write a kind and meaningful message. Keep it positive, respectful, and encouraging. Only sign with first name. You can include your grade level.

Be creative! Take your time. Use neat handwriting. Sign with only your first name and grade level. You can write just a few lines, or more if you want.  You can include some personal stories (“My dad was in the military”, “My family loves Christmas” – but nothing personally identifiable (full name, address, school name, etc).

Sample Notes You Could Write

  • “Merry Christmas! Thank you for all you do to keep our country safe. I hope this holiday season brings you peace, joy, and time to rest.”

  • “Happy Hanukkah! May the lights of the season bring warmth and hope to your heart. Thank you for your dedication and service.”

  • “Happy Kwanzaa! I hope your days are filled with light, community, and strength. Thank you for the sacrifices you make for others.”
